Responsibilities:
The Gender Advisor will be responsible for providing technical assistance to the COP, DCOP and other project staff in order to ensure that the project integrates gender considerations into project design and planning, includes appropriate strategies for both male and female participants and ensures fair representation of men and women in project activities. S/he will have specific responsibility for advising on the establishment/strengthening of girls’ education advisory committees in primary schools, advising on the establishment/strengthening of girls’ clubs, overseeing interventions for tutoring and mentoring programs for female students of Teacher Education Institutions, and overseeing interventions for building the capacity of female teachers and school administrators. S/he will provide technical advice and training to project team members and local counterparts regarding gender equity best practices and methodologies.
Qualifications:
Interested candidates should possess the following qualifications: Master’s degree in Education from a recognized university; at least five years experience related to girls’ education or training of female teachers; demonstrated training experience; proven ability in promoting and collaborating with multi-level stakeholders; excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations; excellent spoken and written English.
Desired Qualifications:
Strong candidates will also have understanding of Ethiopia’s education sector, planning and management, and education issues.
