CARE seeks a Conflict Advisor in Nairobi. The Conflict Advisor will lead Country Office initiatives that are intended to integrate conflict sensitivity and peace building into all Country Office programs and organizational systems and processes. She/he will explore and adapt, tested conflict mitigation strategies to the Somalia context. The incumbent will be responsible for initiating research and other studies on conflict sensitivity and peace building in Somalia, and to document and disseminate the work of CARE on conflict and peace building. She/he will provide technical oversight and support to the Country Office in the integration of conflict sensitivity and peace building programming within ongoing and new projects. She/he will develop training programs on conflict sensitivity and peace building that will be used for training local partner NGOs in these fields.

REQUIREMENTS: Post-graduate training in Conflict Analysis, International Development, Anthropology or related fields. 2 - 3 years experience, in facilitating conflict analysis or mitigation or peace building initiatives in an NGO setting. Program design and strategic planning skills; excellent ability to conceptualize and operationalize complex ideas. Advanced writing and clear oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal and training skills and skills to translate complex ideas into practical models. Experience working in a conflict environment. Master’s in International Development, Political Economy/ Science, Public Administration or Anthropology are desired but not required.
