CARE Mozambique is implementing a comprehensive program in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment in northern Inhambane. The program is funded by CDC, PEPFAR for two years and includes treatment of opportunistic infections, counseling and testing, TB/HIV, palliative care, ARV, Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission in a region that is heavily impacted by HIV but has only a few services.
The program includes technical training of Ministry of Health staff, links between community and clinic services and community education. CARE´s role is to increase access and quality of services to impact the spread and treatment of the disease.
The Program Manager has overall responsibilities to ensure successful implementation of the strategies in line with CARE International Principles and Standards, as well as donor requirements and Ministry of Health’s policies.
Major responsibilities of PM include team building, strategy development and implementation, capacity building of staff and Ministry of Health, monitoring and evaluation of project activities, budget planning and monitoring, reporting to and coordination of stakeholders including government. The project is based in Vilankulos, Inhambane province but includes sites in Inhassoro and Mabote.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s Degree in a related field. At least 5 years experience working on HIV/AIDS programming in Africa. Budget design and monitoring. Project design, management, and monitoring. Health sector policies and procedures. Portuguese language skills. Preferences: At least 10 years experience working on HIV/AIDS programming in Mozambique with PEPFAR or CDC funding.
