Chemonics International seeks a supply chain and logistics specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded project in Kenya to establish and operate a reliable, sustainable pharmaceutical supply chain management system. The project aims to forecast, procure, store, and distribute the drugs, supplies, and equipment needed to provide care and treatment for persons with HIV/AIDS.
Responsibilities include: oversee supply chain and logistics management and ensure successful delivery of all health commodities; manage pharmaceutical and commodity delivery schedules; ensure maintenance of buffer stocks and a smooth delivery of supply; manage freight forwarding, customs clearance, and in-country distribution and warehousing; and provide implementation of health management information system.
QUALIFICATIONS: advanced degree in logistics management, pharmaceutical management, health management information systems, or a closely related field; minimum 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in health systems management related to health logistics and supply chain management required, including procurement, health management information system, pharmaceutical management, health commodities management, and related policy work; familiarity with public health and HIV/AIDS programming, and data collection, analysis, and presentation; knowledge of state-of-the-art and internationally accepted commodity procurement systems and procedures and current issues involving data and sources in poor environments; general knowledge of the Kenyan public sector health system, including the Ministry of Health and its affiliate agencies, donors, and related private sector programs preferred; general knowledge of USAID procedures, laws, and regulations relating to commodity procurement highly desirable; advanced knowledge of logistics techniques and applications; excellent interpersonal and communications skills to establish and maintain effective contacts with key stakeholders; excellent analytical writing and organizational skills and advanced numerical skills required; experience with data collection and report writing essential.
