ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a Chief of Party for an upcoming four year program in Sierra Leone. Start date will be no later than the second quarter of 2008 and position is subject to ACDI/VOCA being awarded the activity. The program focuses on linking democratic governance, economic growth and natural resource management, while empowering women and youth and building institutional capacities. For 43 years and in 145 countries, ACDI/VOCA has empowered people in developing and transitional nations to succeed in the global economy. Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness systems, financial services, enterprise development and community development in order to promote broad-based economic
growth and vibrant civil society.
ACDI/VOCA currently has approximately 90 projects in 40 countries and revenues of approximately $90 million. Responsibilities: provide overall management responsibility for all components of project activities; technical direction for the entire program and ensure the project is managed in accordance to theapproved yearly work-plans; monitor and approve overall project allocations and expenditures and ensure that all project financial reporting is done in accordance toUSAID regulations and ACDI/VOCA accounting policies and procedures; ensure project achieves monitoring and evaluation plan targets; identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner and suggest appropriate program adjustments; maintain strong relationships with home office and donor personnel, partners and collaborators and any other associated stakeholder; and represent ACDI/VOCA and the project to the public and donor community.
QUALIFICATIONS: minimum of Master’s degree in agribusiness, agricultural economics or another related field is required. Minimum of 10 years of overseas experience in international development, with at least 5 years COP experience managing a multidisciplinary team in developing country is required. The COP must be a senior manager with a primary specialty in rural development, with an emphasis on governance issues relevant thereto. Prior experience with at least one of the following technical areas: agriculture, natural resource management and economic growth. West Africa region experience is highly desirable. USAID management experience is required. Fluency in English is required.
